La Visitation-de-la-Sainte-Vierge Church

  • 11 900, rue Notre-Dame Ouest
  • 819 377-1212
The second church in Pointe-du-Lac, destroyed by fire in 1882, was rebuilt on the walls of the previous one erected in 1844. It contains sculptures from Léo Arbour, one of Canada’s great sacred artists.

In the church’s chancel, you’ll find nine paintings done in 1915-1916 by Montreal artist Louis-Eustache Monty. Parish priest Joseph Caron, who passed away in 1912, was laid to rest under St. Joseph’s altar. His tomb can be viewed through a window in the floor. The Casavant Organ, built in 1925, has a tubular-pneumatic action.
