The Trois-Rivières Harbourfront Park will take on a decidedly festive air on July 15 and 16, when six imposing tall ships call at the port as part of the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta marking the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. In all, 35 Canadian ports will take part in the celebrations.
Everyone’s invited to join in the many activities planned as part of the festivities.
The six tall ships that will drop anchor at Trois-Rivières are:
- Wylde Swan
- Denis Sullivan
- STV Pathfinder
- TS Playfair
- Fair Jeanne
- St. Lawrence ll
The Canadian Patrol Frigate – Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Ville de Québec – which is one of the 12 Halifax-class multi-role frigates built in Canada and offering anti-submarine and anti-ship capabilities, will also make a stop in Trois-Rivières.
The Tall Ships Regatta comprises five stages of varying difficulty and length. Each stage includes a main rallying point, where thousands of visitors will have the chance to enjoy a range of activities. Some 40 tall ships will be sailing Canadian waters and will drop anchor in 35 Canadian ports. All of the ships will gather in Quebec City at the end of the regatta, from July 18 to 23.
